Abejide Unveils Plan for World-Class Cement Factory in Yagba West, Moves to Boost Jobs, Industrial Growth
Rep. Leke Abejide has announced plans for the establishment of a world-class cement factory in Okoloke, Yagba West, aimed at boosting industrialization, creating jobs, and driving economic growth across Yagba Federal Constituency.

The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has unveiled plans for the establishment of a world-class cement factory in Okoloke, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, in what stakeholders have described as a major step toward industrial and economic transformation in the area.
Abejide disclosed the development during an engagement with community leaders and stakeholders from Okunran, Isanlu-Esa, and Okoloke held in Odo-Ere, where he outlined ongoing efforts to attract large-scale investment into Yagba land.
The federal lawmaker said the proposed cement factory forms part of a broader development agenda aimed at promoting industrialization, creating employment opportunities for youths, and expanding economic activities across the constituency.
According to him, arrangements have reached an advanced stage for investors to commence work on the project site, noting that deliberate efforts are also being made to guarantee a peaceful and secure environment for operations.
Abejide revealed that plans were underway to strengthen local security architecture through the expansion of the Lion Square vigilante structure with additional operational vehicles and personnel deployment to enhance safety within Okoloke and adjoining communities.
“The factory will be world-class, and we are taking proactive measures to ensure that Okoloke remains conducive for investment. Strengthening local security through the expansion of the Lion Square vigilante group is part of the strategy to guarantee smooth operations for the company without any hindrance,” he said.
He explained that the cement factory project aligns with his wider development blueprint for Yagba Federal Constituency, which focuses on infrastructure renewal, empowerment initiatives, industrial growth, and sustainable community development across the 71 communities in the constituency.
The lawmaker noted that attracting industries to rural communities would not only reduce unemployment but also stimulate commerce, improve internally generated economic activities, and open up new opportunities for local businesses and artisans.
Community leaders and stakeholders at the meeting welcomed the proposed project, describing it as a landmark intervention capable of changing the economic fortunes of the area.
They expressed optimism that the factory would create direct and indirect employment opportunities for young people while attracting more investors to Yagba West and surrounding communities.
The stakeholders also pledged their cooperation and support for the successful implementation of the project, assuring investors and developers of a peaceful environment conducive for business operations.
Observers believe the proposed cement factory could significantly boost industrial presence in Kogi West and complement ongoing empowerment programmes and infrastructure interventions already being implemented across Yagba land through the Leke Abejide Foundation.
The project is also expected to strengthen Abejide’s grassroots development profile as political activities gradually build ahead of the 2027 general elections.
