Ododo to Sustain Lobby for Reconstruction of Kabba‑Egbe‑Ilorin Road, Says Fanwo

Lokoja — The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to securing the rehabilitation of the Kabba‑Egbe‑Ilorin federal road, a vital artery linking parts of Okun land with neighbouring states, highlighting its importance to the socio‑economic development of the region.
This assurance was given by Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, while addressing journalists at his Lokoja office on Monday. According to Fanwo, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains steadfast in his resolve to lobby relevant authorities to expedite the repair and reconstruction of the road, which has long been in a deplorable condition and a source of hardship for commuters and traders.
Fanwo described the poor state of the road as a major concern for residents of Okun land but said the governor fully understands its strategic importance for trade, mobility, and integration with neighbouring regions. He stated that Ododo would not relent until tangible progress is achieved.
Commenting further on regional unity, the commissioner referenced a recent gathering of leaders from Kogi West, convened by former Deputy Governor Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, urging stakeholders to embrace unity of purpose beyond partisan interests. He explained that the meeting was focused on enhancing security, attracting development to Okun land, and fostering cohesion among communities.
Fanwo also expressed gratitude to notable figures, including Chief Olushola Akanmode and Chief Abiodun Ojo, for aligning with the governor’s vision of building a more united and developed Kogi State.
Addressing a widely circulated video in which Governor Ododo directed his appointees to return to their wards to engage and unite with their constituents, the information commissioner described it as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots trust in public office holders. He further commended the smooth conduct of the recent APC ward, local government, and state congresses, saying the outcomes signalled purposeful leadership under the Ododo administration.
