Security Operatives Repel Terror Attack in Ijumu, Prevent Abduction Attempt in Kogi
Security agencies in Kogi State have successfully foiled a suspected terror attack in Ikoyi, Ijumu Local Government Area, preventing a planned abduction and forcing the attackers to flee with casualties.

The Kogi State Government has confirmed the successful foiling of a suspected terror attack in Ikoyi, Ijumu Local Government Area, following a swift and coordinated response by security operatives.
The attempted attack, which occurred on Saturday evening, was reportedly aimed at abducting residents and creating panic within the community. However, security personnel comprising the Nigerian Military, Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Vigilante Service, and local hunters quickly mobilized to the area and engaged the attackers in a gun battle.
According to the government, the prompt intervention of the security agencies prevented the criminals from carrying out their mission, forcing them to retreat from the community after sustaining casualties.
While no abduction was recorded during the incident, one resident reportedly lost his life in the crossfire, while another sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that several members of the criminal gang suffered gunshot wounds before fleeing into nearby forests. Security agencies have since launched a manhunt to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Officials noted that the rapid response, reportedly within minutes of the attack, was instrumental in averting what could have escalated into a major security crisis in the area.
